Hello, I am Erica Saylors and this is my assistant model, Ashley Charlton. I'm going to talk about how to put on makeup for a pageant. The first thing you need to do is put on foundation. Make sure it matches your skintone. If it is different than your normal skintone, it really is going to be a bad contrast under the light onstage, as well as in your private interview.
After you put on your foundation, make sure you put on loose powder that is transparent and not easily noticeable. Make sure it takes away the shine.
Next, put a foundation on your eyes that is a lighter color, so that it accentuates the eyes. Another trick to use is to put a little bit below the eyes so your eyes will pop out even more.
Next, you want to put on eye powder. Generally, it is good to use an earthtone for the stage, unless you are using a really bright color. I am going to use a brown color on Ashley. It matches well with her hair and her skintone. Now, generally it is going to be a little lighter, but for the stage you want to make it is a lot darker, because the intense lights are going to make you look washed out. Add more color for the stage than you normally would. Your eyes are very important in a pageant.
Next, you are going to put on the blush. Make sure you put it right on the cheekbone. Start at the ear, and brush towards the nose, from the top, down. Do not put blush beneath the cheekbone. It is important to use blush so you have more color on your face. Again, there will be bright lights on the stage, and you don't want to look washed out. You may even add a dash to your nose and a dash to your chin.
Put eyeliner under your eyes, and just above the eyelash line to make your eyes sparkle and stand out. Lengthen your eyelashes with eye mascara. Also, don't forget to put some soft lipliner on. Don't make it too bright, because it can make your lips look thinner.
Finally, after putting on your lipstick and your base color, top it off with a subtle but elegant lip gloss. Make sure it matches the tone of whatever you are wearing.
Now, you are ready to present your face to the crowd.
