Hello, my name is Acton on behalf of Expert Village.com and today we are going to talk about how to clean your foam air filter on your lawnmower.
So these are the things you are going to need; oil, some cleaning solution, paper towels, plastic bag and a screwdriver. So, on this model of lawnmower you are going to have a foam air filter; super easy to remove. Simply remove the screw that is holding it, take off the top cover and there you go, there's your air filter. As you can see, this one desperately needs to be cleaned so got some debris here. Crack it open; take out your foam air filter. You can also what would really be a good thing is to wipe this part out. Just wipe it down real good. If you can, peel off some of the debris that is caught on there before you start washing. It makes it easier.
Also have your hose nearby because you are going to need that too. Some all purpose cleaner will work. Works excellent or you can use a little bit of dish soap. Not too much though. That will probably do ya and you are just going to work it into the foam. I'm going to grab the hose real quick and simply stick it under the hose and lift the soap through. If you need a little more soap to get it clean, go ahead and do it. Just remember it takes a little bit longer to work the soap out. There we go. Nice things about these filters are that you don't necessarily have to replace them unless they are torn in some way. You just need to clean them every season or often if you are doing a lot of mowing. You rinse it out really good because you don't want any soap in there. You might not be able to get all the oil out which is okay. These are supposed to be oiled in the first place. You just want to remove the big debris. A lot of the dirt might be clogging your filter.
