A lot my clients asks me about different kinds of peels. There are three different levels of peels. You want to start with the first peel which is a light peel it's called a superficial peel. Most of these contain a glycolic acid, alpha-hydroxy acid and you can find it but looking at the ingredients of the product that you're using. At the top of the ingredient list the first product listed is what it has most of and then it goes into descending order. The peel is just to, it helps to remove dead skin cells of the epidermis and just helps with overall skin tone. And you have a second level peel which is called a TCA peel. And that is a little bit deeper peel and helps with fine lines. It will not get rid of fine lines just helps to reduce fine lines. It's a little bit stronger, it's better for deeper wrinkles. It will sometimes leave the skin a bit red and a little bit sensitive for a few days but that's ok in a few days it will pass. These are also known as fenal-peels which are used for severe discoloration, hypder-pigmentation which are those little brown spots caused by aging, or from being out in the sun too much. The fenal is just a concentrated chemical. It's pretty strong so you just want to make sure you go see your aesthetician or dermatologist for a peel like this. The downside is that it can leave your skin permanently lighter or it just involves more risks than the lighter peels or the superficial peels. The deepest peel that you can get is the laser peel and I highly recommend you see your dermatologist for this type of peel or a plastic surgeon. These are pretty much a chemical burn on the skin, this helps with severe wrinkles and most of the time this is just a single treatment. Depending on the type of damage this could overrule a face lift. And, like I said, just make sure that you see your dermatologist or your plastic surgeon for this they have to have experience to perform this procedure. Some of the drawbacks would be that it's a longer healing process and it causes severe redness and it can cause severe peeling. So try to keep out of the sun as much as possible and always wear your sunscreen.
