Hi this is Andrew on behalf of Expert Village.com and in this next clip I am just going to be showing you how to tie off the ends of the thread once you are finished hemming men's slacks pant leg.
It is really simple and the most important thing is to repeat a similar process is when you built the anchor stitch in the beginning of the process. You just want to make sure that the end is not going to come unraveled because once that does it is going to back thread all the way through the anchor thread and you will have to start all over again. So basically all you want to do is finish your last stitch and you want to come back through and then you want to do another stitch in the exact same spot except this time when you pull the thread back through you want to pull it once through the loop of the thread you just created. Now when you pull the thread back through you want to pull it once through the loop of the thread you created. When you pull that tight it is going to create a knot in-between the two pieces of fabric you are having together. This won't come undone because it is the same process that you used in the beginning in a previous clip to form the anchor stitch. So you want to complete that same exact process right next to it. I usually do it 2 or 3 times a minimum. So you just pull it tight.
Now in this process it is not necessary to go through both layers of the thread. You don't have to grab fibers of the thread on the inside to anchor to it because all you are doing is securing the stitch to the outside of the material. So you again want to take it through the center of the loop that you created and bring the needle all the way back and just allowing it to fall through and create a knot in the actual material. Once you have finished this process, all you need to do is snip off the thread, clean it up a little bit on the inside of where you began and of course remove the pins that you had put in earlier to keep the fabric in place and make sure that you have an even hemline all the way around the cuffs of the pants.
