Hi, I'm Andrew and I am here on behalf of Expert Village.com. And as a final note I just wanted to explain how I might go about sewing on a large button to terry cloth as in the case of a robe. Now terry cloth is an exceptional material in that you can poke holes though it easily without disrupting it too much. It typically tends to be really thick because it is layered on. So typically, with terry cloth you don't have to be as delicate. Now what you want to do is because the button is so large and the cloth is so thick you want to use a needle that is going to have the ability to thread up thicker embroidered thread. So this string is multi-layered, it is intertwined together, very strong and hold a lot of weight. Now once I have determined where I want to sew the button I would ideally mark it with a Sharpie and you take the button and you place it where you want to and then you want to come from the back of and you can stick it right through and it will come right out. Then you want to make sure that the button is facing the right way. Typically you will be able to tell the difference. There are a lot of holes and various patterns back here that you don't want showing. This one looks a lot nicer. It has this on it so that is the side that you want to be facing out and you just string it down onto the robe. You want to cross over and go through the other side and you want to keep the button really nice and snug and then you want to go back through the original hole that you had made in the material. Come through the other side. As you can see we have one strip and you just want to do the same on the other side to make that cross pattern. So you find the other side and come through and you get back through the original hole again pulling it pretty tight each time because like I said this embroidered thread is very thick, very strong and the robe of the terry cloth is very sturdy as well. So now we have this cross pattern and you can just flip it over and you want to untie it by forming a right angle and then coming back through and then you want to put your finger down somewhere to tying a bow on a gift and pull it tight. You want to pull it tight so that the knot is as close to the material as possible. Then you can just cut the string and you got yourself a nice and strong button.
