This video from ShowMeHowToDoThis.com is going to show you how to track different websites or different pages on your website using different channels inside of Google Adsense. So I am going to go ahead and get started here and I am going to log into my Adsense account. Once you are logged into your Adsense account, you are going to want to go to the Adsense set up page.
And you can see here that there are tabs for products, color palettes, channels, and competitive ad filter. What you want to do is create Adsense for content or you can create Adsense for search but you are going to want to set it up to track inside of channels so what we are going to do is go ahead and click on Adsense for content, and then I like the single page display so I am going to go ahead and switch to the single page display.
And now everything is on one page here, and you can see inside of here that there are a lot of different options. Now I am going to choose text, lets just say text ads only and I am going to set my colors to whatever I want my colors to be. I am going to set my size, to whatever I want my size to be. But lets say I have different websites that I want to track. Well the place that I do that is actually down here where it says Choose Add Channels. Now you can see I have already gotten some ad channels set up for some pages I built around construction things as well as pages that I built for ShowMeHowToDoThis and TellMeHowToDoThis is also part of that.
But lets say that I wanted to start a new website about cell phones. Well I could click here and go ahead and add a new channel. Now Microsoft protects me from this for whatever reason, but if you are using a different browser, you may not have this problem. I am going to go ahead and temporarily allow the scripted windows, and I am going to add a new channel, and the channel that I add may be, lets say, cell phone-top. So I go ahead and set that up. And that is now a new channel that becomes a tracking channel inside of Google Adsense.
Now when I go ahead and check out my reports I can check out different reports based on channels, so that I can see what I am earning from different websites based on the different channels that I have set up inside of Google Adsense.
So I will just give you an idea of that here.
So I have blocked out the statistics here because Adsense requires that. But I ran a report from February 1 through February 15, 2007, and I can see by different channels. So from this construction channel I have earned $13.44.
Actually in here I can see all of the information about these individual channels, as far as number of impressions, clicks, all of that, and I can see it sorted by individual channel. So I can select different channels and have it show me what I am earning.
Now obviously ShowMeHowToDoThis is a brand-new website. So I do not have any reporting. I mean I have some numbers as far as views, but I do not have any click throughs really. I mean, I have one for $.10. Whoo-hoo.
