Hello I'm Erica Saylors and this is my assistant model, Ashley Charlton. Today I'm going to talk about how to model and introduce yourself during sportswear competition. First of all it is important to remember that the judges are looking for your personality. When modeling, this is not the same competition as swimsuit or evening gown. You're a little bit looser and you're a little bit more free when walking in this particular type of competition. Ashley please model to the front of the stage. Notice that you really couldn't see Ashley's personality and her character well enough when she was walking to the front of the stage. This time, show more confidence, more personality and use what you're wearing to accentuate that as well. See how she's swishing her dress around. And how she's smiling and more bubbly. That's what the judges are looking for, they want to see who you are. During the sportswear competition, often times contestants introduce themselves on stage, at this time Ashley, I want you to come forth and introduce yourself on stage. I want you to say your name and your contestant number. Good evening, I'm contestant number 1 Ashley Charlton. She did good because she said good evening, however, she just didn't show that personality that those judges are looking for. She really didn't have that sparkle in her eyes or that inflection in her voice. Please try it again Ashley. Good evening, I'm contestant number 1 Ashley Charlton.Very good. That time she had excellent eye contact with the judges and the audience, she put more inflection in her voice, had better annunciation and she had a big smile on her face. That's what the sportswear competition is all about
