Hi, my name is Debbie, and this clip will be about what to take with you when you go out trail riding.
When you are going to a local trail, having the essential gear to fix a flat or any minor repair is probably sufficient. If you're planning to go out further away from home, further away from your vehicle, or on a multi-hour trip, you probably want to think about having some extra things with you in case bad things happen.
You want to be able to take some food, a little snack, a bar of some sort, a gel, an energy drink, so that you don't bonk and you'll have the energy to make it back. If you're going where the weather is an issue, where it's really hot you probably want to plan on having more water than you ever think you could drink because you're gonna drink it when you're hot. If you're going to a place where the weather could change, taking a rain jacket that you could wad up into your pocket is a good plan. If the weather is cold or if you are going to a place that is remote where it could be hours getting rescue, having a space blanket that costs two dollars and folds up into a little pouch that you can stick in your pocket could save you a lot of discomfort out on the trail.
If you are going for a six or eight hour trail ride, take your food, your equipment, plan for the weather, and be self sufficient. Remember, mountain biking is all about being self sufficient. You need to be able to take care of yourself, deal with any issues that come up on the trail, and make it safely back to your vehicle.
