This very quick and very simple video from ShowMeHowToDoThis.com is going to show you how to add categories to your Movable Type entries.
And to add a category, it's actually quite simple, just go to the drop-down menu underneath category and click add new category. When you do that, a box will pop up that will allow you to add a category to your entry. So you can see here that I have actually got a bunch of categories from show me how to do this already in here, but let's just say I wanted to add a different name of the category so, let’s just say I want to add jumping for example, and I wanted to be a top-level category.
So I am going to go ahead and click save, now the box will go away and I have the ability to go ahead and post whatever it is that I am going to post here under my new category, jumping. So let’s just create a little entry. This is about jumping. Jumping is good, and, I like jumping. Jumping and jump are my tags. So I’m going to go ahead and publish this and then click save. It’s going to rebuild that entry, and I now have a category called jumping. Now let's say I wanted to add multiple categories, not just one single category. I would do that over here on the left where it says Categories, and as I roll over it, it says edit categories. They can see ever to get the category jumping.
If I wanted to create in other category, I would do that by clicking create new top-level category, and I would type in, let's say, bricks. I don't know. Birds. Birds is good, and I would create that category. You can create multiple categories right from here inside of the Movable Type publishing platform and it will actually published these to your site once you click to re-build your site.
